PCI-SIG® U.S. Developers Conference 2020: Exploring Online Opportunities

By Richard Solomon, PCI-SIG Vice President and Developers Conference Chair

Each year, over 800 PCI-SIG® member companies are invited to attend the PCI-SIG U.S. Developers Conference. Members can interact with PCI Express® (PCIe®) technology products, engage with industry thought-leaders during educational and technical sessions, hear the latest specification updates and much more.

As I’m sure you’re aware, COVID-19 has led to the cancelation of in-person events throughout the industry. Unfortunately, the PCI-SIG U.S. Developers Conference 2020 has been canceled as well. This was not an easy decision, but out of concern for the health and well-being of our members, attendees and volunteers, it was unavoidable.

PCIe Technology Updates: Coming to a Screen Near You

Now, I may be a bit biased as the Developers Conference Chair, but I know that our members were also looking forward to this event in June. In place of an in-person event, PCI-SIG is exploring options for holding a virtual US DevCon in 2020 to continue the promotion of the PCIe architecture.

Updates will be provided to members in the coming weeks regarding educational sessions. In addition to these sessions, we are investigating alternative methods for hosting one or more of the following events, virtually:

  • Annual Members Meeting
  • PCI-SIG Press Conference
  • Marketing Work Group Meeting
  • PCI Express Product Showcase

PCI-SIG Education Resources and Member Engagement

PCI-SIG’s commitment to industry education and our community of member companies are at the core of PCI-SIG DevCons. As we transition this year’s event to an online format, these values will remain intact. PCI-SIG also provides a variety of educational resources and member engagement tools such as webinars, blogs and a new member newsletter that will be introduced at the end of Q1 2020.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. Above all else, I wish you the best as you navigate these uncertain times.
