PCI-SIG® and DMTF: In This Together
By Mike Krause, PCI-SIG Board Member
PCI-SIG® is proud to announce that we have established a working relationship with DMTF to simplify hardware management. DMTF creates open manageability standards spanning diverse emerging and traditional IT infrastructures including cloud, virtualization, network, servers and storage. Because of our common interests, a working relationship will help us enhance security across technologies.
PCI-SIG will reference DMTF Redfish-based component authentication data objects to enable PCIe device and switch authentication, which are needed to address customer security requirements. These data objects can be transported using MCTP over PCIe technology or through a new configuration space mailbox capability under development within the PCI-SIG.
DMTF Redfish-based component authentication data objects will be used by multiple industry bodies in an effort to simplify security management and to enable a consistent customer security experience. PCI-SIG members will provide feedback to the DMTF to ensure the component authentication data objects meet PCIe needs and requirements. Read more about the component authentication on the PCI-SIG blog.
PCI-SIG® and DMTF look forward to the future benefits they will yield from this working relationship. If you are a member of PCI-SIG and you would like to become more involved in the combined efforts with DMTF, please contact PCI-SIG Administration at administration@pcisig.com.
If you have not yet joined PCI-SIG, but are interested in how you can become more involved with the DMTF working relationship and beyond, we invite you to visit the membership page on our website today.
