PCI-SIG Compliance Workshop #119: Introducing Official PCIe 5.0 Specification Compliance Testing

It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since PCI-SIG® formed in 1992. Over the past three decades, thousands of PCI Express® (PCIe®) technology products have been added to the PCI-SIG Integrators list, spanning all device types from endpoints to add-in cards across five generations of the PCIe specification. Compliance Workshops are an important benefit for PCI-SIG members and are vital for the continued expansion of the PCIe technology ecosystem.

The recent Compliance Workshop #119 on April 18-22 in Burlingame, CA celebrated 30 years of PCI-SIG innovation with the first official PCIe 5.0 specification testing event.

The workshop was a major success, with incredibly high member participation and a wide variety of PCIe technology products completing the rigorous compliance and interoperability testing procedures. In all, 140 attendees from 42 member companies participated in testing a total of 93 products at the event.

Companies whose products passed the testing have the option to add those products to the PCI-SIG Integrators List, so keep an eye on that page as those requests are received and processed by PCI-SIG. Also, note that products are added only upon request by the member company.

These tremendous participation numbers are yet further evidence of the growing momentum of PCIe 5.0 technology, and the enthusiastic return to in-person PCI-SIG Compliance Workshops after the Covid-necessitated “virtual” workshops of last year. It is exciting to see our members building PCIe 5.0 technology solutions and adding their expertise to the robust PCIe technology ecosystem.

Compliance Program Updates

As a reminder to members, following Compliance Workshop #119, PCI-SIG has elected to discontinue PCIe 3.0 Specification Integrators List testing. As of the upcoming Compliance Workshop #120 in July, product registration options will include PCIe 4.0 Specification Official Testing at 2.5, 5, 8 or 16 GT/s maximum link speed and PCIe 5.0 Specification Official Testing at 2.5, 5, 8, 16 or 32 GT/s maximum link speed.

Compliance Workshop #120 is scheduled for July 25-29 in Burlingame, CA. This event will include Integrators List product testing for PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 5.0 technology products. Additional updates and registration information will be posted on the PCI-SIG website soon at www.pcisig.com/events.

Additional encouraging news on the return to in-person events in 2022 comes with member registration now being open for PCI-SIG Developers Conference 2022, taking place on June 21-22 in Santa Clara, CA. I hope you will join the PCI-SIG community in Santa Clara to celebrate PCI-SIG’s 30th anniversary! Please do note that we’ll be streaming the presentations for those unable to attend in person, but you’ll need to register as a “Virtual Attendee” in order to access these.
